PREPARING FOR TREATMENT

You’ll need to plan for rides to and from our clinic as you should not drive or operate machinery until the day after a treatment session, following a restful sleep. You may want to bring a book, a relaxing playlist or another form of entertainment for the session because your doctor will monitor you for at least two hours after treatment.

You should avoid eating two hours before and drinking liquids 30 minutes before taking SPRAVATO™ as side effects may include nausea or vomiting.

If you take a nasal corticosteroid or nasal decongestant medicine, take these medicines at least one hour before taking SPRAVATO™.

What does treatment look like?
  • SPRAVATO™ is taken with a daily oral antidepressant
  • You administer SPRAVATO™ nasal spray yourself under the supervision of a healthcare professional at a certified SPRAVATO™ treatment center
  • SPRAVATO™ is taken twice a week for the first four weeks
  • After the first four weeks, SPRAVATO™ is taken once a week for a month
  • After this, SPRAVATO™ is usually taken either once a week or once every two weeks

HOW TO USE SPRAVATO™

SPRAVATO™ comes in the form of a nasal spray you self-administer at our clinic under supervision. You will administer SPRAVATO™ yourself under the supervision of a healthcare professional, who will show you how to use the SPRAVATO™ nasal spray device. After treatment, you'll be monitored for at least two hours during the observation period for possible side effects by our trained staff.

Safety & Side Effects

SPRAVATO™ nasal spray was evaluated for safety in both short- and long-term clinical trials of adults diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression. SPRAVATO™ may cause sleepiness (sedation), fainting, dizziness, spinning sensation, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from yourself, your thoughts, feelings, space and time (dissociation). These side effects may occur right after treatment and typically go away the same day.
