Spravato Therapy

SPRAVATO™ nasal spray is a different kind of medication taken with an oral antidepressant for adults with treatment-resistant depression – a first in decades approved by the FDA.

If you’ve struggled with depression and tried two or more antidepressants in your current episode without adequate relief, talk to your doctor to see if you have treatment-resistant depression.

SPRAVATO™ is a esketamine-based nasal spray, prescribed to be used along with an antidepressant medication, for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) in adults.

In a clinical study of adults with treatment-resistant depression, those who took SPRAVATO™ and an oral antidepressant experienced greater reductions of depression symptoms at four weeks compared to those who received a placebo plus an oral antidepressant.

If you’ve struggled with depression and tried two or more antidepressants in your current episode without adequate relief, schedule a free consultation to see if SPRAVATO™ is right for you.

Today’s most commonly used oral antidepressants are thought to treat depression by increasing levels of neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine) in areas of the brain that affect mood. SPRAVATO™ targets the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor and is believed to work differently than currently available oral antidepressants. SPRAVATO™ is taken with a daily oral antidepressant.

Robin's Story

“Depression has been a thread in my life for decades. When I was a young mother raising two children, I would spend hours a day in bed playing solitaire to block out my despair. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and spent years taking one antidepressant after another. Nothing worked for me. Eventually, I was diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression. I read about the clinical trials for SPRAVATO™, and my psychiatrist said I was a candidate.

“SPRAVATO™ helped me get beyond the depression symptoms that held me back for so long. Today, I’m leading a class in mental health, building a greenhouse in my backyard and spending time at the beach with my dog, Oshi. I’ve been on SPRAVATO™ and I go every other week for my treatment. Having my depression symptoms improve after a lifetime of struggle has been amazing.”

This is Robin’s experience and individual results may vary. When discussing treatment with SPRAVATO™, be sure to tell your doctor about your complete medical history, including if you have a history of abusing prescription or street drugs or a problem with alcohol. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. Your doctor will discuss the possible side effects of SPRAVATO™ so that you can decide together if SPRAVATO™ is right for you.
